Slow growth rate, tight growth habit, cold tolerant, medium leaf texture, high traffic tolerant *very low water requirement.

Medium growth rate, smothers weeds if mowed at correct height, salt tolerant, drought tolerant and *very shade tolerant
Stolons
Budget friendly alternative

Stolons are above ground runners with rooting potential. We have devised machine harvesting techniques particular to each variety in order to achieve the highest percentage rooting development.
Mondo Grasses
Mondo makes an excellent ornamental accent planting around trees or sidewalks. It can take full sun but thrives best in filtered shade.
We offer limited supplies of both the REGULAR(6-10" long leaf blade) or DWARF (2-4" Size leaf blade)

How do I measure the area I want to cover with a lawn?
For SOD, find the length, times it by the width to get the square footage to be covered.
For STOLONS, divide the total square footage by 120 to get the number of bushels you need. To establish a lawn faster, divide by 100 (100 square feet per bushel).
What grass do I need for shady conditions?
St. Augustine works best for the shadiest areas, followed by El Toro in filtered shade.

How much does it cost?

How much and what type of soil will I need?
AÂ loosened, well drained soil, 4''-6'' in depth, combine with a weed free compost or other organic material.
What fertilizer should I use for planting & follow-up?
Whether sod or stolons, rake in 10-30-10 as a pre-plant. 2-3 months later, apply 15-15-15 or 16-16-16. Once the lawn is established a slow release 21-7-14 is recommended.

Our Story
E-SCAPE ENTERPRISES is a sole-proprietorship owned and managed locally. The owners have degrees in Horticulture Technology from the University of Hawai'i, Manoa and golf course experience in Hawai'i and on the mainland. Â E-Scape Enterprises established the first sod farm on the Big Island in 1988 and is still the largest.
